Empire DVE Direct Vent Gas Heater Information

Empire DV - 20 - 40 - 55 Gas Heater

The Empire DV-20E, DV-40E, DV-55E Heater Advantages
Versatility
Empire Direct Vent heaters are very versatile gas heaters. They are slim and taking up a very small amount of room, are easy to vent (venting included), and can be controlled remotely by a wall thermostat.
Efficiency
With a Power Direct-Vent system, there is a positive difference in fuel economy because outside air is used to support combustion. The air on the inside is warmed as it recirculates around a sealed chamber. This warm air comfortably heats the room cleanly and efficiently.
Easy of Installation
Empire's Direct Vent high efficiency heaters do not require any special hanging or wall mounting and are ideal for use in areas where existing flues or chimneys cannot be used. Just one hole through an outside wall is all you need. If you must vent, you will receive maximum fuel economy from direct-vent heaters.
Durability
Empire leads the field in style and durability. They use a state-of-the-art powder coating that produces a strong finish that resists scratching and chipping.
Quiet
Empire's secret to quieter operation is using a fully insulated cabinet to quiet the burner and dual circulation blowers to move the heated air instead of a propeller fan which is much louder.
Appearance
Clean, smart engineering on the inside calls for clean, smart looks on the outside. The simple direct vent cap on the exterior of your home projects only 6 inches. And, with the optional vent extension kits, installation on virtually any type of structure is possible.

Empire DVE Gas Heater Features

Tubular Heat Exchanger
Unlike unit heaters with the clamshell style heat exchanger, positioned above ribbon-style burners, Empire DV-20E, DV-40E, and DV-55E heat exchangers do not have stress points where manufacturing processes have weakened the metal by stamping, crimping and welding. These gas heaters are equipped with a tubular heat exchanger which consists of smooth, continuous tubes are formed in a serpentine shape and then placed in parallel rows. This type of heat exchanger has no stress points, no points where the metal has been compromised making it more durable than a similar clamshell heat exchanger and allowing the unit to be equipped with in-shot burners.

Advanced Burner Design
Empire DVE's burner design is more akin to that of a fire-tube boiler than a unit heater. With these in-shot burners, the flame is retained inside the heat exchanger and fires down the inside of the heat exchanger tube. This design accomplishes three things: First, it eliminates the need for separate conventional ribbon-style burners; Second, it enhances flame quality and heat transfer; and Third, it eliminates most burner corrosion problems. Conventional burners fail when moisture from condensation drips on them. This problem is eliminated with the Empire in-shot burner system.

Control System
Single Stage, Hot Surface Ignition, 100% Shutoff with Continuous Retry - Gas is lit with an electronic hot surface igniter on call for heat. Most gas heaters have pilot flames which must stay lit for the heater to perform.  With a hot surface igniter, you don't have to worry about drafts putting out the flame.  It comes on only when heat is needed every time heat is needed!  Another advantage of the hot surface igniter is that there are no fumes released from it like with pilot flames. 115 volt power supply and 25 volt controls.

Power Direct Vent System
Every Empire DVE natural gas or propane heater features a fan powered direct vent exhaust. Power vents force heater exhaust fumes outside of the heated structure while pulling in heated fresh air from outside for combustion. The combustion air is heated as it passes over the heated vent pipe when entering the heater which makes them more efficient than standard unit heaters. Power venting also allows the heater to be vented vertically or horizontally. Conventional vents use natural air drafts (chimney effect) to expel exhaust fumes. Unvented gas heaters leave these fumes in the greenhouse which can be harmful to plants.
.
Diagnostic System
Every Empire DVE heater has advanced diagnostic controls that monitor all primary heater functions for dependable, worry-free operation. If the heater doesn't start, a LED diagnostic light on the heater will flash indicating where the problem occurred and makes fixing the problem quick and easy.
